Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey5/13/2023 Crisp world building, recognizable and fully-realized characters, and a refreshingly unique storytelling style make for an absorbing read. Nicotine and octane in equal parts might come close to the high-energy buzz from Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim. Brief Summary of Book: The Perdition Score (Sandman Slim, 8) by Richard Kadrey Here is a quick description and cover image of book The Perdition Score (Sandman Slim, 8) written by Richard Kadrey which was published in J. Paced like greased lightning (watch out for friction burns on your turning finger), blend the movie-ish delights of tough guy noir and such smart-mouthgore-fests as Reanimator and Army of Darkness, seasoned by soupcons of Gaimanian romanticism and Koontzian sentiment. I loved this book and all its screwed-up people. all confident and energetic and fresh and angry. The most hard-boiled piece of supernatural fiction I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Green wrote an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter, it would read much like Sandman Slim - violent, vivid, non-stop action of the supernatural kind. An addictively satisfying, deeply amusing, dirty-ass masterpiece, Sandman Slim swerves hell-bent through our culture's impacted gridlock of 's like watching Sergio Leone and Clive Barker co-direct from a script by Jim Thompson and S. Sandman Slim was included in Amazons 100 Science Fiction. The best B movie I've read in at least twenty years. Richard Kadrey is the New York Times bestselling author of the Sandman Slim supernatural noir books.

Lethal white robert galbraith review5/13/2023 It has taken me both forever and no time at all to read this book. Plus, his relationship with his former assistant is more fraught than it ever has been-Robin is now invaluable to Strike in the business, but their personal relationship is much, much trickier than that. Trying to get to the bottom of Billy’s story, Strike and Robin Ellacott-once his assistant, now a partner in the agency-set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament, and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside.Īnd during this labyrinthine investigation, Strike’s own life is far from straightforward: his newfound fame as a private eye means he can no longer operate behind the scenes as he once did. But before Strike can question him further, Billy bolts from his office in a panic. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed, and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike’s office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. “I seen a kid killed…He strangled it, up by the horse.”

Eleni nicholas cage5/13/2023 It was only after having finished both manuscripts that I realized the pomegranate–a folkloric symbol of abundance–plays a significant role in each book, which is why I’ve adopted it as a personal symbol. Another book that explores the theme of being torn between two cultures, but this time from a fictional point of view, my first novel Other Waters, is about an Indian-American psychiatrist who thinks that her family has been cursed. My travel memoir, North of Ithaka, describes my experience living in Lia, the small Greek village where my father was born, overseeing the rebuilding of my grandparents’ home. In between staff positions at Allure, Elle, InStyle, People and Martha Stewart Weddings magazines, I earned an MFA in Creative Writing at Columbia University and wrote a few books. (You can imagine how un-thrilled my parents were with my choice of major!) Four days after graduation, I moved to New York to work in magazine journalism. My fascination with cultural rituals, beliefs, and intermixing inspired me to study Folklore and Mythology when I went off to college at Harvard University. The daughter of a Greek father and a Minnesotan mother, I grew up in Athens, Greece, and the suburbs of Worcester, Massachusetts-and became obsessed with cultural rituals and traditions along the way.
